The Conclusions to the Article about Conrad Black

By: Andrew Schwartz

In order to create a really precise analysis of the article, it is very important to know and to see clear the fact that all emotionally colored words in the article from the point of view of the writer are used in order to discover the major writer’s idea. It means that a rich self-possessed man, Conrad Black, is in the situation and under the conditions which he had never supposed to be in. Furthermore, that during the court time he was not an empire holder any more, but just a regular man, a part of nation. The real fact was that only several people in the panel of judges know about his earlier power is quite sardonic especially in contrast to Conrad Black’s former words that he was “a normal, ordinary man”.
The success of this article lies in the enormous diversity of methods and means used to illustrate the events: factual and theoretical information, loaded talking, emotionally colored remarks, pictures of the place, and opinions of other people as they see the situation.
The manner of the text is rather mysterious; nevertheless the reader is not tired of reading this article due to the existence of positive humor which is used to bring more color to the whole meaning of this article. The narration of the building, which was considered as “minimalist architect”, was taken into the contradiction with Conrad Black, “who believes that more is more”. It seems that, in the name of Black there was no power for the critic, which is another ironical part of this case.
Taken as a whole, this article is a bit humorous, and in spite of some negative effects for defendant Conrad Black after the court, the reader could not feel any sympathy or understanding of the actions of this man. The use of definite means helps to become this article rather entertaining, like a tale, which was written in pretty comical style, but includes some definite lesson in the end of the story.
Is it really important whether Conrad Black and the writer have been ever met? I think no. But it goes without saying that the author had certainly a kind of disaffection to the ex-millionaire, and he looks to be studying the life and success of Conrad Black for a long time. So, it can be said that this piece of paper is wonderful example of how simple description of the case in the court can become an amusing and resourceful chronicle of life.
